More Christmas things

(I wanted to comment on the previous post, but can't for the life of me. Something with word verification (never had trouble with it before, probably temorary).

I just remembered The Little Fir Tree by Margaret Wise Brown. There's a little boy who because of sickness or something, must stay in bed. His father brings in the little fir tree from the forest, and it creates a wonderful gift for the whole family.

There's a great chapter in Little House on Plum Creek about Christmas. They made a video out of it, too. (And now it's in the DVD set of Little House.)

Another good video is The Homecoming with the Waltons.

Another good story to read it The Legend of Old Befana, an Italian Christmas Story retold by Tomie DePaola. Old Befana is visited by three mysterious men following a star and looking for the baby. They invite her to come along, but she says no. After the leave, she decides to come, and spends the rest of her days looking for the baby. Two other DePaola Christmas books are The Legend of the Poinsettia by Tomie dePaola and Merry Christmas, Strega Nona by Tomie dePaola.

And there are picture book versions of Clement Moore's Twas the Night Before Christmas.
