Ana - my daughter just had the book out this morning - I think it's supposed to be Luxembourg (that is also where the true story took place). Thanks for the reminder!

I was thinking this list was of various countries, not just Europe. Please move my Peru and Australia recommendations to their proper places. I am batting a thousand. I am just under a little stress.

No problem, Christine! I'd like to get to the other continents eventually too. I think I'll go ahead and start a South America one too, though I don't have a lot of suggestions prepared as with the other lists.

One more batch of Credo Books (can you tell these are popular at our house?):

France:

Dupuy, T.N. Charlemagne

Miller, Shane. The Hammer of Gaul: The Story of Charles Martel

Webster, Gary. Journey Into Light: The Story of Louis Braille

Poland:

Hume, Ruth & Paul. The Lion of Poland: The Story of Paderewski

Italy:

Kaufman, Helen L. Anvil Chorus: The Story of Giuseppe Verdi

Peck, Anne Merriman. Wings of an Eagle: The Story of Michelangelo

Smaridge, Norah. The Light Within: The Story of Maria Montessori

Spain:

Kolars, Frank. The Sea Tiger: The Story of Pedro Menendez (This could be Spain or colonial-era America)

England:

Power-Walters, Alma. The Crusader: The Story of Richard the Lionheart

Stanley-Wrench, Margaret. The Conscience of a King: The Story of Thomas More

Stanley-Wrench, Margaret. Teller of Tales: The Story of Geoffrey Chaucer

?

Webster, Gary. The Man Who Found Out Why: The Story of Fr. Gregor Mendel
(Mendel was born in Austrian Silesia, then part of the Austrian Empire, so is often listed as an Austrian scientist; but his abbey where he lived and worked was in Moravia, which is today part of the Czech Republic. Pick a country.)

Further digging convinces me that Mendel should be categorized as Bohemia/Czech Republic, depending on how you want to handle the Balkans.
