Also, St. Martin de Porres by the same author. There is a young saint in Chile by the name of Laura Vicuna. I am trying to find a book for children for you.

Thank you both for your suggestions.

T.O.H. - for some reason that wasn't on my history shelf so I missed it. :)

Esther - we have a relic of Blessed (?) Laura Vicuna - so I'm very interested in finding a children's book.

The one in Catholic Mosaic... a gift of Gracias. Alicia, is this list also for picture books? Is it any children/youth age? would the Good Earth not fit in Asia? Or the Inn of Seventh Happiness & Keys of the kingdom-- films?

Ana - I would say "all of the above". If you label them as "picture book" or "high school" it wouldn't hurt. Thanks!

More from the Credo Books series (someone seriously needs to get these great Catholic biographies back into print!):

Guatemala:

Mexico:

Tinkle, Lon. Miracle in Mexico: The Story of Juan Diego

Sorry, didn't see there was a separate list for Mexico.

Our 12th grader just finished Dom Casmurro by the Brazilian Machado de Assis. U of Texas Press published a translation. De Assis is the "Brazilian Dostoievsky".
