The Vision Book Series

Vision Books are a series of Catholic Books - mostly Saint stories - dating from the 1950's. The stories are engaging and designed for children ages nine to fifteen. My children have enjoyed them as read-alouds as early as Kindergarten age and I have often found them enjoyable and uplifting even as adult reading. An asterisk * indicates titles which have been reprinted by Ignatius Press. Please note that where appropriate, I have attempted to favor the newer title given to reprinted books over the older titles (which occasionally will vary slightly).

We have an old copy of a "Junior Vision" book, St. Elizabeth's Three Crowns. The original publishers reprinted some of the books as abridged versions for younger children. The book is hard cover with beautiful full color illustrations throughout.

I am looking at our "Junior Vision" book and it states, "Junior Vision Books are special adaptations of the well-known Vision books, which have been awarded the Thomas More Association medal, and accorded the Apostolic Blessing by Pope John XXIII. This new series is designed to appeal to the young reader..."

Three other titles that were printed as Junior Vision Books are: Francis and Clare, Saints of Assisi; Father Marquette and the Great Rivers; and Saint Joan, the Girl Soldier.

Thank you for posting this list.

I didn't know there were Junior Vision books - what a neat idea - too bad it didn't take off. Thanks for letting us know.

My Eskimos: A Priest in the Arctic is by Roger Buliard, not Bullock.
