There is also a complete (as far as I know) transcript of the afore-mentioned event, which can be found here. Below is a favorite quote of mine found glancing through the document (We were not able to watch all of it) Perhaps America's brand of secularism poses a particular problem: it allows for professing belief in God, and respects the public role of religion and the Churches, but at the same time it can subtly reduce religious belief to a lowest common denominator. Faith becomes a passive acceptance that certain things "out there" are true, but without practical relevance for everyday life. The result is a growing separation of faith from life: living "as if God did not exist".Well, as I said before, we were not able to watch all of it, but only about a half hour at the end. That half hour was enough for us to see our archbishop on TV and to watch all of the bishops sing happy birthday to the Pope as he left!
